What Can I Expect From a Strength Training Or Aerobic Activity Exercise Program?

Physical fitness refers to a condition of total health and well being and, more importantly, the capacity to carry out various parts of daily activities, professions and sports. Physical fitness can be achieved through regular physical activity, proper nutrition, adequate rest and the right amount of sleep. Although there are many ways to achieve a healthy lifestyle, some, such as exercises, diets, or even drugs, may not be effective for people with certain conditions, such as diabetes, heart problems, kidney problems or even mental challenges. Such conditions need to work closely with a person’s fitness efforts to make sure that he gets the best results.

Fitness, however, does not only mean good health. It also involves strength and flexibility. Strength is needed to carry out activities and sports and flexibility helps in maintaining good form while doing those same activities and sports. Hence, it is advisable that physical fitness is included in an individual’s overall plan of care for the body because it is the foundation for achieving both good health and a healthy lifestyle.

There are two types of fitness: functional and muscular endurance. Functional fitness focuses on the muscles a person uses in carrying out activities, while muscular endurance focuses on the tissues that support and cushion the muscles. A well-built muscular endurance system enables a person to use his muscles effectively in all circumstances, while a functional system enables a person to have a healthy body without any obvious signs of muscular endurance. Thus, to optimize health, functional and muscular endurance needs to be balanced through a combination of training and exercise.

To achieve fitness means having a good diet and regular intake of fluids, such as water, juice and diet sodas. These fluids help to flush the body of toxins and excess sodium, as well as facilitate the digestive system to absorb the nutrients it requires to maintain its normal function. Aerobic exercises are a great way of building and maintaining a healthy body that is free from diseases. While it does not involve strength training, aerobic exercises involve a process wherein the heart and lungs are forced to work at a greater intensity to carry out an activity for a long period of time. It is this higher intensity that helps in building a person’s stamina.

Cardiovascular training helps in improving overall fitness. This is done through a variety of exercises that involve running, walking, swimming, cycling, rowing, and other different types of exercises. The increased heart rate helps in improving endurance and resistance to illness. For weight loss purposes, cardiovascular training is also very helpful, particularly when combined with a weight loss diet.

An individual’s ability to get up and take part in a daily physical activity depends largely on his or her mental capacity and attitude. The better these two are matched, the more likely a person will remain fit and active throughout the day. If you want to improve your muscle strength and flexibility, then a strength training exercise program would be best. However, if you want to improve your muscle tone and build stamina, then an aerobic activity will do just fine.
